On December 17, 2013, His Majesty King Harald V of Norway accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon of Norway attended the 2013 Gardens Kirkeparade (The King’s Guard’s Church Parade) held at the Oslo Domkirke in Oslo.
On the morning of December 12, 2013, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon of Norway arrived at the Ørland Hovedflystasjon (Main Air Base) to meet with the soldiers and generals of the Luftforsvaret (Royal Norwegian Air Force).
Thereafter the crown prince visited the Luftkrigsskolen (Royal Norwegian Air Force Academy) in Trondheim.
On December 11, 2013, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway arrived at the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel in Oslo to participate in the 2013 Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) Conference.
According to the official website for the NORAD conference this year’s theme is “…the results of aid for health and education. The conference will show what results have been achieved and what still remains.”
On Tuesday, December 10, 2013, Their Majesties King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway attended the 2013 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony held at the Oslo Rådhus in Oslo.
The winner of Nobel Peace Prize went to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
On Thursday, November 28, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Sonja of Norway presented the 2013 Dronning Sonjas Skolepris (Queen Sonja’s School Award) to the Porsgrunn Videregående Skole (Porsgrunn High School).
After the award ceremony Her Majesty had a chance to tour the school as well as meet with students and staff.
On November 14, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Sonja of Norway arrived at the Kings Place Gallery in London, England, to open the exhibition, Ørnulf Opdahl Paintings and Prints.

Good news! According to Communications Director for the Norwegian royal court, Ms. Marianne Hagen, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s surgery “…on her neck to remove a herniated disc and alleviate pressure on the nerves…” was a success.
The surgery took place this morning at the Rikshospitalet in Oslo. The crown princess will remain under observation for a few days before being released from the hospital.
