H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco News

It was announced on October 28, 2011, that H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco would participate in the Ein Herz für Kinder (A Heart for Children) television fundraising gala to be broadcast live on ZDF from Berlin, Germany on December 17, 2011.

Per a press release regarding the event:

Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco kindly accepted the invitation and agreed to travel to Berlin. It will be her first visit to the German capital since her wedding to Prince Albert II of Monaco last July.

Even before her wedding, Princess Charlene was committed to helping the disadvantaged through sports and education. As a young athlete, she trained scores of disadvantaged children and helped inspire and comfort them. The former Olympic swimmer from South Africa often volunteered her time and status to raise significant funds in support of several construction and training projects. Princess Charlene is ambassador and member of the International Board of Directors of the Special Olympics, the largest international sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. She now is establishing her own Foundation called “Princess Charlene Foundation” to assist children and women in need around the world. Together with her husband, Princess Charlene also supports a wide variety of charitable organizations.

Prominent international guests of the “Ein Herz für Kinder” TV gala in the past years included Jane Fonda, Prince Harry, George Clooney and Salma Hayek. Thomas Gottschalk, Germany’s most famous TV personality, will host the event for the eleventh time.

H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco News

It was recently announced that H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco will welcome the president of  the Republic of Mali, Amadou Toumani Touré, to the principality beginning on October 31, 2011.

The Malian delegation will meet with members of the Chamber of Economic Development of Monaco, the Government Counsellor for Foreign Relations José Badia and the Government Counsellor for Finance and Economy Marco Piccinini, to develop commercial relations between Mali and Monaco.

On Monday, President Touré, will be received by the Sovereign at the Palace of Monaco. This audience will be an opportunity to discuss Monégasque international cooperation actions in Mali, current economic relations between the two countries, the situation in sub-Saharan Africa as well as multilateral matters. The meeting will be followed by a working lunch at the Palace.

During his stay in the Monaco, President Touré will visit the Oceanographic Museum and Galerie des Pêcheurs for the exhibition of photographs of development cooperation programmes in Mali supported by the government of Monaco in partnership with the Monégasque Red Cross and Prince Albert II Foundation.

On October 28, 2011, H.S.H. Prince Albert II participated in the Peace and Sport flag handover during the final day of the 2011 Peace and Sport International Forum.  After five years in Monaco, this important forum will take place in Sochi, Russia next year.  “It’s a big responsibility that lays on our shoulders but we will not let you down,” noted Sochi 2014 CEO Dmitry Chernyshenko during the event.

H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco Attends the ‘Peace and Sport International Forum 2011’ in Monaco

Fresh from his trip to New Zealand and official visit to Nepal, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco attended the 2011 Peace and Sport International Forum in Monaco on October 27, 2011.

The Peace and Sport International Forum brings together heads of state as well as international figures from the political, sporting, private sector and civil society world to “…discuss possible initiatives and partnerships to make sport a vehicle for dialogue, stability and reconciliation throughout the world.”

This year’s attendees include H.R.H. Lestie III of Lesotho, the President of the Republic of Hungary H.E. Pál Schmitt, and the President of the Republic of Macedonia H.E. Gjorge Ivonov to name a few.

T.S.H.s Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco Visit Nepal

T.S.H.s Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco are currently in the tiny country of Nepal for the next few days.

The princely couple will go to the village of Dhuseni to visit the school built by the Monaco Aide et Présence association, now known as one of the ten best schools in this country. The Prince will then lay the foundation stones for new schools being built with the support of the ‘NAMASTE’ Association (Nepal-Monaco-Cultural-Association) in Salleri and Rigaon.

T.S.H.s will also visit a clinic established by the ‘ACFN’ (Franco-Nepalese Cultural Association) and the craft workshop that provides training for women sponsored by ‘NAMASTE’, located in Gamrang.

T.S.H.s Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco: A No-Show At the New Zealand Olympic Committee Centenary Dinner

Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco are currently in New Zealand to attend the 2011 Rugby World Cup as well as to attend other official functions. One of the events the princely couple were to attend was the New Zealand Olympic Committee’s centenary dinner on October 20, 2011. Unfortunately, there were a change of plans.  According to the New Zealand newspaper, Auckland Now, the princely couple instead “… jetted across the Tasman Sea…”

Why?  No idea.

But, don’t fret.  The lovely couple will be back to New Zealand to attend the 2011 Rugby World Cup Finals this weekend.   🙂

An Exhibit at the Villa Paloma: Nouveau Musée National de Monaco Featuring H.R.H. Princess Caroline of Hanover, Princess of Monaco

At the Villa Paloma: Nouveau Musée National de Monaco there is a new exhibition entitled, 3 Expositions + 1 Film: Heritage in Monaco, which tells the story of the history of the principality through rare photographs as well as documents.  Princess Caroline is a highlight of the exhibition in which several portraits are on display of the princess by famed artists such as the late Helmut Newton, designer and photographer Karl Lagerfeld, Francesco Vezzoli, and many more.

T.S.H.s Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco to Visit Toronto, Canada. Plus, Other News

It has been confirmed that T.S.H.s Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco will visit Toronto, Canada where they will officially open the exhibition, Grace Kelly: From Movie Star to Princess, on November 2, 2011 (open to the public on November 4).

The exhibition, based on the Grimaldi Forum’s The Grace Kelly Years, will be held at the Toronto International Film Festival’s Bell Lightbox.  Director and CEO of the Toronto International Film Festival, Piers Handling, noted:

It is an honour to welcome members of The Monegasque Princely family to TIFF Bell Lightbox. Grace Kelly: From Movie Star to Princess is a tribute to the life and style of one of the world’s most beloved stars and to have Prince Albert and Princess Charlène open the exhibition is a great privilege.

After the opening there will be a gala reception in honor of the prince and princess of Monaco. 

Meanwhile, the princely couple are still in Auckland, New Zealand enjoying the 2011 Rugby World Cup.  But, it is not all fun and games for the prince and princess. The Palais Princier de Monaco announced that H.S.H. Prince Albert II will participate in various official functions whilst in lovely New Zealand including an official meeting with the prime minister, Mr. John Key.  Discussions will include the:

…development of economic links between the two countries and the initiative relating to the protection of cetaceans, in areas located beyond the “Permanent Protection of Cetaceans on the High Seas” jurisdiction introduced by the Principality.

Prince Albert II is expected to attend the New Zealand Olympic Committee centenary dinner on October 20.  The princely couple will also visit Christchurch where:

…the prince will visit the engineering firm ‘Scott Industry’ and the Antarctic Research Institute. An in-depth scientific partnership is planned between this agency, which aims to improve multi-disciplinary research into the Antarctic and the Prince’s Foundation.

Come next weekend, Prince Albert and Princess Charlene will attend the 2011 Rugby World Cup finals.
