The future emperor played the Viola while the princess played the Cello.

On Thursday, April 10, 2014, Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary at Tōgū Palace in Tokyo.

Yesterday, the imperial couple visited the Toyo Bunko Museum in Tokyo where they viewed an “…exhibition on Buddhism…” according to Kyodo News.

On April 2, 2014, Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan accompanied by His Imperial Highness Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan visited the Meiji Jingu Shrine in Tokyo.

On Thursday, March 27, 2014, Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan visited the Saikū Historical Museum in Meiwa-cho in the Mie Prefecture.

On March 26, 2014, Her Imperial Highness Princess Mako Akishino of Japan graduated from the International Christian University in Mitaka, Tokyo, Japan. Princess Mako Akishino is the eldest daughter of Their Imperial Highnesses Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko of Japan and the granddaughter of Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan.

According to the Imperial Household Agency, Princess Mako Akishino now “…plans to concentrate on public duties instead of entering graduate school or starting work…”
