On Wednesday, October 3, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands was in Alkmaar to attend the presentation of a new retinal camera to the Medical Center Alkmaar (MCA).
The Oogfonds Organization (a national fundraiser in the field of blindness, visual impairment and eye disease) purchased the retinal camera/RETcam and donated it to the MCA. Her Majesty is patron of the Oogfonds.
On October 2, 2012, Her Royal Highness Princess Maxima of the Netherlands was in Gasselternijveen to visit the “… residents association Hoofdstraat-Noord.”
According to RVD:
“This neighborhood association organizes various social activities around a historic pear row of trees in the street. Since 1990 the pear trees were maintained by the neighborhood, and act as a binding social event where the residents pick and harvest the pears together. The residents also organize an annual brunch after the harvest…”
Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands attended the opening of the new exhibition entitled, Point de Vue, 200 jaar Kunstacademie’s-Hertogenbosch, held at the former Stedelijk Museum’s-Hertogenbosch on October 2, 2012.
According to RVD:
“The exhibition “Point de Vue” gives an idea of the work that students and teachers of the academy for the past 200 years have brought forth with a focus on visual arts. It is drawn from the collections of the three city museums, private collections and from the collection of artists or descendants.”
On Tuesday, October 2, 2012, Her Royal Highness Princess Maxima of the Netherlands was at the Tropenmuseum Junior in Amsterdam to attend the opening of the new exhibition entitled, MIXMAX Brazil.
According to RVD, this new exhibition focuses on the “… culture of Pernambuco, the state located in the northeast of Brazil which shares its history with the Netherlands…” MIXMAX Brazil showcases Brazilian music, dance, visual arts, food and much more.

On Friday, September 28, 2012, Her Royal Highness Princess Maxima of the Netherlands was in to Amersfoort visit the new department of Qredits Micro-Finance Netherlands and the Pension Market for Entrepreneurs.
According to RVD, the princess first visited the:
“… new department of Qredits Amersfoort. Qredits is a rural micro-credit provider and has in recent years, provided over 2,800 loans to starting entrepreneurs. Thereafter, the Princess participated in a round table discussion with a number of start-ups and their mentors.
After the interview, the Princess continued her visit with a tour of the Pension Market for Entrepreneurs…”

On September 27, 2012, His Royal Highness Prince Willem-Alexander of Oranje attended the Heinekenprijzen and Heineken Young Scientists Awards in the field of science and arts in Amsterdam.
According to RVD:
“The biennial Heineken Prizes (each EUR 150,000, and 50,000 for the art prize) and Heineken Young Scientists Awards ($ 10,000) are available by Dr. HP Heineken Foundation and the Alfred Heineken Funds. The Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences selects the winners.”
On Thursday, September 27, 2012, His Royal Highness Prince Willem-Alexander of Oranje was in Hengelo to officially open the newly extended Combi Terminal Twente BV (CTT).
“The CTT is a leading terminal that believes in the power of the combination of container transport by road and water. The company offers every day or several departures from the port of Rotterdam to Hengelo and vice versa. They also transport to the ports of Amsterdam and Antwerp.”
