On the afternoon of Monday, September 2, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands arrived at Wageningen Universiteit and Researchcentrum (University and Research Center) to open the new academic year as well as to inaugurate the new Orion Education Building.
The new pentagon-shaped sustainable building houses over 2,600 students with 88 lecture, laboratories, and computer rooms. After the opening there was a festival for the students which included food, games, guest speakers, music, and much more.

Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands attended an early evening concert, held at the Koninklijk Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, on August 28, 2013.
The princess along with hundreds of lucky guests listened as the European Union Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Mr. Thomas Søndergård, performed various works by the late composers, Mr. Igor Stravinsky, and Mr. Hector Berlioz.

On the morning of Wednesday, August 28, 2013, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands arrived in Den Haag to attend the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the Vredespaleis (Peace Palace).
During today’s event His Majesty along with hundreds of guests listened to various speeches from Dutch Prime Minister, Mr. Mark Rutte, as well as from the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon. His Majesty King Willem-Alexander also received the centenary commemorative book, The Building of Peace: A Hundred Years of Work on Peace Through Law, The Peace Palace 1913 – 2013.
The book distributed by Eleven International Publishing:
“…examines the existence and the legitimacy of the Peace Palace with an open, inquiring gaze. New historical research describes in detail how this icon of international law, and the institutions that it houses, have survived the past century, with all of their bruises and successes.
Major authors from different continents have written personal contributions, an extensive photo series shows what happens inside the walls of the Peace Palace over the course of a year, and an expert in the field of international law takes the reader inside and discusses the image and self-image of the institutions in the Peace Palace, on the basis of personal observations.”

His Royal Highness the late Prince Johan Friso of Oranje-Nassau was laid to rest this afternoon in the cemetery next to the Stulpkerk in Lage Vuursche.
The private funeral service, led by Reverend Carel ter Linden, was held at the Stulpkerk with the late prince’s family and dearest friends in attendance.
After the service Her Royal Highness Princess Mabel, Countess Emma Luana, Countess Joanna Zaria, Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, Their Majesties King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands and their daughters along with other members of the Dutch royal family returned to Kasteel Drakensteyn — residence of Princess Beatrix — to comfort each other and to mourn in private.

This morning RVD announced that the funeral for His Royal Highness the late Prince Johan Friso of Oranje-Nassau will be held on Friday, August 16, 2013, in Lage Vuursche in the municipality of Baarn in the province of Utrecht. Lage Vuursche is just east of Kasteel Drakesteyn the residence of Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands.
The private funeral will be led by Reverend C.A. ter Linden. RVD also notes that “…after a service in the Stulpkerk in Lage Vuursche the Prince will be laid to rest in the adjacent cemetery. A memorial service for Prince Friso will be held later in the year.”
