On Tuesday, October 6, 2015, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands attended the 50th anniversary of SNV Netherlands Development Organization in Den Haag.
According to AFP News, SNV is an:
“…international not-for-profit development group who aims to alleviate poverty by enabling increased income and employment opportunities and increasing access to basic services. The organization currently works in 38 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.”

On Friday, October 2, 2015, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands met with members of the European Parliament at Paleis Noordeinde in Den Haag.
Meanwhile, at the Haags Historisch Museum in Den Haag, Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands opened the exhibition, Held op Sokkel. According to the photo news agency, PPE, the exhibition showcases “…a selection of statues in Den Haag and explains the reason why these historical persons are honored with statues.”

On Thursday, October 1, 2015, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands arrived at the Universiteit Leiden’s Academy Building to participate in the conference, China in the Netherlands. The purpose of today’s gathering was to meet with “…China experts in preparation for their state visit to China in a few weeks…” according to a press release.

On the evening of September 26, 2015, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands arrived at the Koninklijk Theater Carré in Amsterdam to attend the closing celebrations of the 200th anniversary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

On Thursday, September 24, 2015, His Majesty King Philippe of Belgium visited the Stichting SeniorenStudent (Senior Student Foundation) in Amsterdam.
The organization connects young people, mainly college students, with the elderly:
“Together they undertake various activities, work to increase self-sufficiency, and to increase the social network of the elderly. Getting to know other people and visiting activities in their own neighborhood is also important. With this approach, the foundation wants to make sure that seniors [participating in the journey] will not be lonely.”
During today’s visit His Majesty spoke with the founders of Stichting SeniorenStudent as well as individuals participating in the program.
On September 23, 2015, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands opened Wehkamp, an e-commerce store, new distribution center in Zwolle.
During today’s opening His Majesty was given a tour of the new center by Wehkamp CEO, Mr. Gert van de Weerdhof. The Wehkamp distribution center is the:
“…largest automated e-commerce distribution center in the world. Customers can receive their package on the same day delivered to any location in the Netherlands. Within 30 minutes after placing an order is a package ready for shipment.
The new distribution center is also equipped with the latest technology. This makes ordering products better, faster, and more accurate…”

On Wednesday, September 23, 2015, Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of Netherlands accompanied by Her Majesty Queen Sonja of Norway officially opened the exhibition, Munch:Van Gogh, at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
The exhibition focuses on the:
“…the parallels between two iconic artists, Vincent Van Gogh and Norwegian artist, Edvard Munch. Their visions on life and art are closely related, despite the fact that they never met. Their work is colourful, intense, expressive and radical. Their lives are remarkably similar in many ways.
For the first time, Munch:Van Gogh, studies in detail the similarities between both artists. Among more than one hundred artworks, there are several iconic masterpieces and works on special loan which are rarely lent out, such as ‘The Scream’ and ‘Madonna’ by Edvard Munch and ‘Starry Night over the Rhone’ and ‘Patience Escalier’ by Vincent van Gogh.”
Munch: Van Gogh will open to the public at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam on September 25-January 17, 2016.
