HRH Princess Astrid of Belgium Attends the Launch of the WHO’s, Emergency Response to Artemisinin Resistance in the Greater Mekong Subregion, in Cambodia.

astridHer Royal Highness Princess Astrid of Belgium, in her capacity as Special Representative of the Partnership Roll Back Malaria, attended the launch of the World Health Organization’s, Emergency Response to Artemisinin Resistance in the Greater Mekong Subregion, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Their Majesties King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium Visit the Hôpital Militaire Reine Astrid. (VIDEO)

Their Majesties King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium arrived at the Hôpital Militaire Reine Astrid (HMRA) in Brussels this afternoon for a brief visit.

Upon their arrival Their Majesties were warmly welcomed by hospital administrators and staff.  After formal greetings and handshakes the king and queen, accompanied by the Belgian Minister of Defense, Mr. Pieter de Crem, attended a workshop in which they learned about “…the current evolutions in medicine during military operations…”

King Albert II and Queen Paola also visited the Burn and Poison Center as well as a tour of the Centre de Médecine Aéronautique’s Hypobaric chamber/altitude chamber.

Her Royal Highness Princess Astrid of Belgium Visits Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

astridOn April 24, 2013, Her Royal Highness Princess Astrid of Belgium, in her capacity as Special Representative of the Partnership ‘Roll Back Malaria’, arrived in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to begin her three-day visit on the occasion of World Malaria Day.

The princess and her delegation were invited to visit the mainland southeast Asian country by the Minister of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO).  Tomorrow, Princess Astrid and her delegation will “…participate in various festivities on the occasion of World Malaria Day and launch the WHO’s Emergency Response to Artemisinin Resistance in the Greater Mekong Sub-Region (ERAR)…” according to the Belgian royal court.

Prior to her departure to Cambodia, Princess Astrid met with Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan at the Imperial Palace as well as with His Imperial Highness Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan at Togu Palace in Tokyo.

astridHer Royal Highness Princess Astrid of Belgium is currently visiting Japan on the “…occasion of World Malaria Day…” according to the Belgian royal court.  The princes, in her capacity as Special Representative of the Partnership Roll Back Malaria, accompanied by her delegation attended a luncheon this afternoon in Tokyo with various VIPs as well as government officials including the Belgian Ambassador to Japan, Mr. Luc Liebaut, and the President of Exxon Mobil Japan, Mr. Takehide Anada.

The Belgian royal court also notes that Princess Astrid will have various “…interviews/meetings with Japanese authorities…” regarding the fight against Malaria during her two-day visit to Japan.

News Regarding Their Royal Highnesses Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde of Belgium. (VIDEO)

PMBelgiumTheir Royal Highnesses Prince Philippe and Princess Mathilde of Belgium visited Musson, Messancy, and Arlon in the province of Luxembourg on April 19, 2013.

The royal couple’s first stop was La Petite Plante in Musson a “…residential home that accommodates 16 adults with multiple disabilities…”  From there the prince and princess visited the foundry, Magolux, in Messancy.  The day ended with a visit to Arlon where they participated in a meeting and then attended a lovely reception held in their honor at the City Hall.

HRH Princess Astrid of Belgium Visits the Scandinavian School Brussels École Reine Astrid.

astridHer Royal Highness Princess Astrid of Belgium was in Waterloo this morning to attend the 40th anniversary celebrations of the Scandinavian School Brussels École Reine Astrid.  During the celebrations the princess “…watched a presentation about the history of the school with a small concert performed by the students and the Chapelle Musicale Reine Élisabeth…”
