On Thursday, December 5, 2013, His Royal Highness Prince Laurent of Belgium officially opened Plan Froid in Brussels.
Supported by the Fondation Prince Laurent Plan Froid provides homeless people and their pets a place to stay during the cold winters in the city of Brussels. The shelter contains warm beds, heaters, bathrooms, and showers.
On the morning of December 5, 2013, His Majesty King Philippe of Belgium visited the headquarters of l’Etat-Major de la Défense (General Staff of the Defense) in Evere.
During today’s visit His Majesty toured the operations center and was briefed about the activities of the Belgian Armed Forces at home as well as aboard.
On the evening of Monday, December 2, 2013, King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium arrived at the Hôtel Plaza in Brussels to attend the Fondation Reine Paola Christmas concert.
Guests in attendance listened as Mr. Peter Van Heyghen conducted Les Muffatti (Brussels Baroque Orchestra) perform George Frideric Handel’s cantata, Apollo e Dafne.
On Monday, December 2, 2013, Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium arrived in Luxembourg for a one-day official visit.
Upon their arrival at the Palais Grand-Ducal in Luxembourg City Their Majesties were warmly greeted by Their Royal Highnesses Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg as well as by hundreds of locals.
After the inspection of the guards Their Majesties were ushered into the palace where they posed for the press and then attended a gala luncheon held in their honor.
On the morning of November 30, 2013, Queen Paola of Belgium arrived at the Flagey Hall in Brussels to attend concert/musical theater performance of La Truite Romantique. Today’s performance was organized by the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth and Equinox according to the Belgian royal court.
On the afternoon of November 21, 2013, Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium hosted a luncheon at the Palais Royal de Bruxelles with the Governors of the Belgian provinces.
In the morning, His Majesty received credentials from the Ambassadors of Slovenia, Kuwait, Egypt, and Lithuania.
On November 20, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of Belgium arrived at the Children’s Hospital at the Universitair Ziekenhuis in Brussels to attend a concert performed by the Brussels Children’s Choir on the occasion of “…International Day for Children’s Rights an initiative of Festival van Vlaanderen in collaboration with MET-X Moving Club…” according to the Belgian royal court.
Earlier in the day, Her Majesty participated in a roundtable discussion organized by UNICEF Belgium. Discussions focused on the “…social inequality in the education system in Belgium.”
