Members of the British Royal Family Attend a Memorial Service at St George’s Chapel

On March 30, 2012, members of the British royal family — minus the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge who are currently on a skiing holiday in Meribel, France — attended a memorial service held at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor.

The purpose of today’s memorial service was to remember the late Queen Mother and Princess Margaret.  During today’s event the Right Reverend David Conner noted during the service:

… that both women had ‘significantly enriched’ the lives of those present.  Each of us here this morning will cherish some special personal memories; memories that awaken once again sentiments of affection and respect. Rightly such particular memories should be harboured securely and discreetly in our own hearts and minds.

But there are also common themes in our remembering which should be shared openly. Most surely amongst them will be the faithfulness that characterised the lives of both Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret – faithfulness to family and friends, faithfulness to the nation and Commonwealth, faithfulness to the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
