News Regarding HRH Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg.

On May 4, 2022, Her Royal Highness Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg was a guest of Mr. Térence Jarosz’s (from RTL 5Minutes) podcast entitled, Vous avez comme un accent.

In the interview, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa tells the story of her life beginning in Cuba, then the United States, then Switzerland, and eventually in Luxembourg. She also talks about her family, her meeting with Grand Duke Henri, and other important moments in her life. 

The Grand Duchess also discusses her work in the humanitarian field, specifically, her commitment to the organization, Stand Speak Rise Up. The aim of the organization is to fight against sexual violence in sensitive areas, in particular, rape as a weapon of war.

On May 7, 2022, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa participated in RTL Luxembourg’s 20th Edition of Télévie, a telethon fundraising event for Cancer and Leukemia research, in Mertzig, Luxembourg. According to the Cour Grand-Ducale, prior to “…acting as telephone operator alongside other volunteers to take pledge calls…” the lovely grand duchess met with hundreds of volunteers, patients, families, and staff.

HRH Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg Attends a Concert in Memory of His Late Father, Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg.

On the evening of Saturday, April 23, 2022, His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg arrived at the Philharmonie Luxembourg to attend a concert in memory of his late father, His Royal Highness Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg. The late grand duke passed away on April 23, 2019, at the age of 98.

The concert, directed by conductor, Mr. Andy Loor, had 120 singers from the Chœurs d’Ouverture with Maurice Clément on the organ opened the tribute concert with works by Mr. César Franck, Mr. Gabriel Fauré, Mr. Jos Kinzé, and Mr. Albert Leblanc. 

The concert continued with a contemporary program by the Schierener Musek, an ensemble typical of rural Luxembourg, with Roland Schiltz conducting. After the intermission, the Fanfare Municipale Luxembourg-Bonnevoie, under the direction of Mr. Romain Kerschen, offered an original program combining contemporary music, folk, jazz, the bagpipes of the Luxembourg Pipe Band as well as the voice of the sopranoist, Ms. Simone Martiny.

HRH Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg Participated in the 74th World Baden-Powell Fellowship Event.

From April 21 – 24, 2022, His Royal Highness Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg, in the presence of His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, participated in the 74th World Baden-Powell Fellowship Event and the World Scout Foundation Investor Conference in Dublin, Ireland. The Hereditary Grand Duke is Chairman of the World Scout Foundation.

During the conference, discussions focused on:

“…ways to adopt new strategies for the Foundation which aims to modernize its operation and increase its efficiency in raising funds for the benefit of World Scouting. The crisis situation in Ukraine and neighboring countries was also discussed…”

On Saturday, March 26, 2022, Her Royal Highness Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg sent a video message of support to those who are participating in the 2022 Relais Pour la Vie (Relay for Life).

The Relay for Life is a two-day race that raises money for the Fondation Cancer de Luxembourg. The Grand Duchess is the Honorary President of the foundation.

HRH Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie of Luxembourg Meets with Ukrainian Mothers and Their Children in Findel.

On Wednesday, March 23, 2022, Her Royal Highness Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie of Luxembourg along with her son, His Royal Highness Prince Charles of Luxembourg, visited a crèche (day care/nursery) in Findel where she met with Ukrainian mothers and their children.

During her visit, Her Royal Highness took the time to warmly welcome the refugees to beautiful Luxembourg, while her son, Prince Charles, had a wonderful time playing with the other children in the garden.

HRH Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg Meets with the Prime Minister of Andorra.

On Tuesday, March 22, 2022, His Royal Highness Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg held an audience with the Prime Minister of the Principality of Andorra, His Excellency Mr. Xavier Espot Zamora, at the Palais Grand-Ducal in Luxembourg City.

During today’s meeting, His Royal Highness and Prime Minister Zamora discussed various topics including “…economic diversification, a challenge common to both countries, with exchanges focused on innovation and digital, finance, tourism and the war in Ukraine…” according to the Cour Grand-Ducale.

HRH Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg Attends a Red Cross Benefit Concert.

On the evening of Friday, March 18, 2022, His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg attended a benefit concert, organized by Croix-Rouge Luxembourgeoise, for the refugees affected by the war in Ukraine.  The concert was performed by the Orchester Philharmonique du Luxembourg, conducted by Mr. Lionel Bringuier, accompanied by pianist Bruce Liu. On the program: Frédéric Chopin’s “Piano Concerto No. 1” and Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Symphony No. 2”.

According to the Cour Grand-Ducale, all of the proceeds raised will be “…allocated to humanitarian receptions in order to meet their basic needs.”
