(VIDEO) HM King Felipe VI of Spain Gives an Award to a Former L.A. Laker.

On the morning of Wednesday, July 15, 2015, His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain presented the 2015 Premio Camino Real to Spanish-born and former Los Angeles Laker power-forward, Mr. Pau Gasol, at the Universidad de Alcalá in Alcalá de Henares.

Mr. Gasol, who currently plays for the Chicago Bulls, received the award for his great basketball career in the United States, his philanthropy and leadership skills, and for basically being an overall nice guy.

(VIDEOS) TMs King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain Welcome the President of Romania to Madrid.

On Monday, July 13, 2015, Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain welcomed the President of Romania, Mr. Klaus Werner Iohannis, and his wife, Ms. Carmen Iohannis, at Palacio de La Zarzuela in Madrid.

After a photo-op for the press Their Majesties hosted a luncheon in honor of President Iohannis’s official visit to Spain.

(VIDEO) Queen Sofia of Spain Receives an Award.

On Tuesday, June 23, 2015, Queen Sofia of Spain received the UNICEF Comité Español’s 2015 Joaquín Ruiz-Giménez Award.  The ceremony, presided over by Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain, was held at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas in Madrid.

Queen Sofia received the award for her “…work and commitment in support of the most vulnerable people, especially the children, in the last 50 years.”

(VIDEO) A Duchess No More. Infanta Cristina Loses Her Title!

On the evening of Thursday, June 11, 2015, by royal decree His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain formally stripped his sister, Infanta Cristina, of the title The Duchess of Palma de Mallorca.

Per a press release via the Spanish royal court:

“De conformidad con lo dispuesto en el artículo 6 del Real Decreto 1368/1987, de 6 de noviembre, sobre régimen de títulos, tratamientos y honores de la Familia Real y de los Regentes, he resuelto revocar la atribución a Su Alteza Real la Infanta Doña Cristina de la facultad de usar el título de Duquesa de Palma de Mallorca, que le fue conferida mediante Real Decreto 1502/1997, de 26 de Septiembre.

Así lo dispongo por el presente Real Decreto.
Dado en Madrid, el 11 de junio de 2015.
Firmado: Felipe, Rey, y el presidente del Gobierno, Mariano Rajoy Brey”

The short version in English “By Royal Decree 470/2015, of June 1, by which the faculty of using the title Duchess of Palma de Mallorca is revoked from Her Royal Highness Infanta Doña Cristina.”

Last December a Spanish judge ordered the princess “…to stand trial on tax fraud charges…” according Reuters News.

inaki urdangarin 2012Meanwhile, her shady husband, Mr. Iñaki Urdangarin, and his former business partner, Mr. Diego Torres, are scheduled to stand trial sometime later this year.

The two are accused of embezzlement, fraud, misuse of public funds, and forgery from the non-profit organization they once presided over, Instituto Nóos.  For more information about the case please click here.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, June 10, 2015, Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain attended the 2015 Premio Príncipe de Viana de la Cultura held at the Monasterio de San Salvador de Leyre in Navarra, Spain.

The winner of the award went to writer, poet, and musicologist, Mr. Ramon Andres Gonzalez-Cobo.

Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain Participates in a Meeting in Madrid.

On Tuesday, June 9, 2015, Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain participated in a meeting with members of the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (AECC) at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid.

Held under the theme, Desayuno con Empresas , today’s meeting was aimed to “…raise awareness of the business sector on the social problem of cancer…” according to the Spanish royal court.
