Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain Attend the Celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the Promulgation of the Constitution of Cádiz of 1812 (VIDEO)

On March 19, 2012, Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain attended a celebration to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the promulgation of the Constitution Cádiz of 1812.

Today’s event took place at the Oratorio de San Felipe Neri in front of hundreds of important dignitaries such as the President of the Congress of Deputies, Mr. Jesus Posada, the President of the Senate, Mr. Pius García-Escudero, the President of the Constitutional Court, Mr. Pascual Sala and the Chairman of the Supreme Court and the Judiciary, Mr. Carlos Dívar.

Once inside the Oratorio de San Felipe Neri, His Majesty gave a speech noting:

We commemorate today the bicentenary of the first Spanish Constitution, a reference essential for the unity, sovereignty and freedom of our compatriots, and one of the most important episodes in the history of our country.

Afterward, King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia made their way outside to the Cádiz square whereupon they placed a giant wreath at the monument of the Cádiz Cortes.

Random Royal News Regarding the Spanish Royal Family

On March 14, 2012, Her Royal Highness Princess Letizia of Asturias participated in the CNSE Foundation Awards in Madrid, Spain.

The princess was accompanied by Secretary of State for Social Services and Equality, Mr. Juan Moreno and the President of CNSE and the CNSE Foundation, Ms. María Concepción Díaz Robledo.

Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias held an audience at Zarzuela Palace with professors and graduate students enrolled in the MBA program at Columbia University.

The professors along with the students are on a tour visiting various “… business centers around the world…”  Whilst in Spain they will have a chance to meet with “…senior executives of the Spanish companies, as well as official institutions.”

Finally, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain held an audience with members of the Junta Directiva de Economía at Zarzuela Palace.  And, that’s it.   🙂

Random Royal News Regarding Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain, The Duchess of Cornwall and The Princess Royal

This evening at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain attended a gala tribute in honor of legendary Cuban prima ballerina, Ms. Alicia Alonso.

Her Majesty was accompanied by the Minister of Health, Social Services and Equality, Ms. Ana Mato, the rector of the  Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Mr. Pedro González-Trevijano, and the director of the Teatro de la Zarzuela, Mr. Paolo Pinamonti to name a few.

Meanwhile in Cheltenham, England, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall along with Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal attended Ladies Day at the 2012 Cheltenham Festival.

His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain Holds an Audience. Plus, News Regarding the Duke of Palma de Majorca’s Corruption Case (VIDEO)

On March 14, 2012, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain held an audience at Zarzuela Palace with the founders of the transport company, SUER, on the occasion of their 70th anniversary.

Meanwhile, the Duke of Palma de Majorca’s, Iñaki Urdangarín, infamous corruption case continues.  Apparently, Judge José Castro believes the duke is full of bologna and cheese regarding the financial and business dealings of Mr.Urdangarín’s former non-profit organization, Nóos Institute.

Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain Attend the Fundación La Caixa Scholarship Awards in Barcelona (VIDEO)

On March 14, 2012, Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain attended the  Fundación La Caixa Scholarship Awards in Barcelona, Spain.

According to the Spanish royal court, His Majesty presented scholarships to postgraduate students in order to help them continue as well as “…. expand their academic training.  A total of 125 students will continue their studies in some of the best schools in the world thanks to this scholarship…”

Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain Attends the ‘2012 Reina Sofía de Conservación y Restauración del Patrimonio Cultural Awards’

On March 7, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain attended the 2012 Reina Sofía de Conservación y Restauración del Patrimonio Cultural Awards in Madrid, Spain.

During the ceremony, Her Majesty presented the top award to:

Irmandade Venerada of Nuestra Señora do Rosario Two Homens Pretos of Morro Vermelho, Minas Gerais (Brazil), in the category of ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage’, and the Institute Metropolitan of Heritage of the Municipality of Quito (Ecuador), in the category of ‘Heritage Material’.

Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias Attend the ‘Tesoros Vivos de la Televisión’ Tribute Meeting (VIDEO)

Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias attended the Tesoros Vivos de la Televisión tribute meeting in Madrid, Spain on March 6, 2012.

The event, held at the European University, was organized by the Academia de las Ciencias y las Artes de Televisión and the Universidad Europea de Madrid.
