On Monday, September 19, 2016, His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain gave a speech at the United Nations in New York City, New York.
According to the Spanish news agency, EFE, in his speech His Majesty “…called for a generous response to the great displacements of refugees and migrants, to whom he said support should be offered ‘so that they may live a dignified life’ and who, in turn, should respect ‘the values that must be observed in the welcoming countries.’ ”
On Tuesday, September 13, 2016, Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain accompanied by the Minister of Education, Culture and Sports, Mr. Inigo Mendez de Vigo and the Secretary of State for Education, Culture, Training and Universities, Ms. Marcial Marin, officially opened the 2016/17 school year at the Ginés Morata Center in Almeria, Spain.
According to the Spanish royal court, during today’s opening Her Majesty unveiled a commemorative plaque and was given a tour of the center. Her Majesty also “…visited several classrooms including Early Childhood Education (4 years), children with special needs, the library, a classroom for students enrolled in second elementary (7 years) and the gym.”
Thereafter, Her Majesty participated in meeting with school board members, parents and teachers.

On Friday, September 9, 2016, Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain held audiences with representatives from the Alianza Iberoamericana de Enfermedades Raras o Poco Frecuentes (ALIBER) at Palacio de La Zarzuela in Madrid, Spain.
Thereafter, Her Majesty, as Honorary President, met with members from the Consejo Ejecutivo Nacional de la Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (AECC).

On the afternoon of Thursday, August 4, 2016, Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain accompanied by their two daughters, Princess Leonor and Princess Sophia, posed for the press at Palacio de Marivent during their summer holiday in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
On Friday, July 29, 2016, Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain met with members of the Spanish Olympic Team participating in the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

On the morning of Wednesday, July 27, 2016, Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain participated in a meeting with the directors of the Centros del Instituto Cervantes in Madrid, Spain. Yesterday’s meeting was held on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Centros del Instituto Cervantes which “…promotes [the] Spanish language and culture throughout the world.”
