On the morning of Monday, June 30, 2014, His Holiness Pope Francis held a private audience inside the papal library at the Apostolic Palace at the Vatican with Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain.
According to the Vatican News Agency, during today’s 40-minute meeting discussions focused on, “…social issues, including unemployment, the situation of young people in Spain, and the importance of promoting dialogue and collaboration between the Church and the State for the good of all Spanish society…”

On Saturday, June 21, 2014, Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain arrived at Palacio de Zurbano in Madrid to participate in a meeting with representatives of associations and foundations for victims of terrorism.

On Friday, June 20, 2014, His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Spain, Mr. Mariano Rajoy, at Palacio de la Zarzuela in Madrid.
According to the Spanish newspaper, El Pais, the meeting:
“…took place at 9am, before the cabinet meeting in the office formerly occupied by his father Juan Carlos.
Details of the king’s upcoming schedule of engagements have also been gradually emerging: he and Queen Letizia will meet with victims of terrorism on Saturday, and their first official trip abroad will be to the Vatican, where they will meet with Pope Francis.
Foreign Minister José Manuel García-Margallo has confirmed that after that the king and queen will travel to Morocco, France and Portugal, though no dates were provided.”

On Thursday, June 19, 2014, His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain was officially sworn in as Spain’s new king in front of Congreso de los Diputados (Congress of Deputies) in Madrid.
Prior to the ceremony His Majesty received the red sash of Captain General of the Armed Forces from his father, King Juan Carlos I of Spain, at Palacio de la Zarzuela.

Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias Attend the Opening of a New Exhibition at the Museo Naval de Madrid and Museo Arqueológico Nacional.
On Thursday, June 12, 2014, Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias arrived at the Museo Naval de Madrid and Museo Arqueológico Nacional in Madrid to attend the opening of the new exhibition, El último viaje de la fragata Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes.
The exhibition is “…dedicated to the frigate Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes, which sank in 1804 and was recovered by the Spanish government after a successful lawsuit against the salvage company Odyssey…” according to the official website for the Museo Naval de Madrid and Museo Arqueológico Nacional.
