On December 23, 2012, His Imperial Majesty Emperor Akihito of Japan celebrated his 79th birthday. This morning the Emperor, along with Her Imperial Majesty Empress Michiko as well as other members of the Imperial family, made a balcony appearance at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo where thousands of well-wishers gathered to wish the Emperor a very happy birthday.

On December 18, 2012, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan attended the Tokyo film première of Les Miserables. On Monday, the crown prince met with Oman’s Secretary-General of the Foreign Ministry, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. On November 28, 2012, Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan along with Princess Takamado visited the Toshimagaoka Imperial Cemetery in Tokyo to “… commemorate the 10th anniversary of the death of Prince Takamado…”
On Sunday, November 18, 2012, Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan continued their visit to Okinawa. The day began with the Imperial couple “… attending an annual conference on fisheries promotion and marine environment protection in Itoman.” Afterward, Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko visited the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology and the island of Kumejima.

On Saturday, November 17, 2012, Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan arrived in Naha, Okinawa for a four-day visit.

On November 7, 2012, Their Imperial Highnesses Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako of Japan along with their daughter, Princess Aiko,visited Shiosai Park in Hayama. The lovely family is currently on a brief holiday.
In other news, Her Royal Highness Princess Caroline of Hanover is going to be a grandmother. Ms. Tatiana Santo Domingo, fiancée of Mr. Andrea Casiraghi (eldest son of Princess Caroline), confirmed that she is six months pregnant.
Ms. Santo Domingo was at the Telva Fashion Awards in Madrid last evening when she confirmed her pregnancy to a journalist from the Spanish newspaper, La Voz Libre. The baby is due sometime in late January 2013. Ms. Santo Domingo and Mr. Casiraghi will marry sometime in 2013. Congrats to the couple! 🙂
