Her Imperial Highness Princess Mako of Akishino To Study Abroad This Fall. (VIDEOS)


According to FNN News, Her Imperial Highness Princess Mako of Akishino, daughter of Their Imperial Highnesses Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko and granddaughter of Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan, will continue her graduate studies abroad in the United Kingdom this coming fall.

In 2010, the princess studied at the University College in Dublin, Ireland as well as at the University of Edinburgh in 2012 as an exchange student.

His Imperial Highness Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan Visits Switzerland. (VIDEOS)



On Wednesday, June 18, 2014, His Imperial Highness Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan began his one-week state visit to Switzerland. The purpose of the visit is to celebrate the 150th anniversary of bilateral and diplomatic ties between Japan and Switzerland.

According to Kyodo News, yesterday the crown prince visited the city of Bern:

“…a UNESCO World Heritage site, with the capital’s mayor. He also visited a building where theoretical physicist Albert Einstein lived in 1905, when he presented a paper on special relativity, as well as a base for an emergency helicopter rescue unit known as REGA.”

This morning, Crown Prince Naruhito met with the President of the Swiss Confederation, Mr. Didier Burkhalter, in Neuchâtel. After the official welcoming ceremony and reception the crown prince and Mr. Burkhalter arrived at the Museum of Ethnography where they viewed the exhibition, Imagine Japan.

Members of the Imperial Family of Japan Attend the Funeral for the Late His Imperial Highness Prince Katsura. (VIDEOS)



On Tuesday, June 17, 2014, Their Imperial Highnesses Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako of Japan along with Their Imperial Highnesses Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko of Japan, Her Imperial Highness Princess Mako of Japan, and Their Imperial Highnesses Prince Takahito and Princess Yuriko of Mikasa attended the Renso no Gi funeral service helf at the Toshimagaoka Imperial Cemetery in Tokyo for the late His Imperial Highness Prince Katsura. The late prince passed away on June 8, 2014, of heart failure at the age of 66.

According to the newspaper, Japan Times, Their Imperial Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan, “…in line with custom did not attend the funeral but sent messengers including the grand steward of the Imperial Household Agency.”

His Imperial Highness Prince Katsura Has Passed Away. (VIDEOS)

On Sunday, June 8, 2014, His Imperial Highness Prince Katsura, cousin of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Akihito of Japan, passed away at the age of 66.

The Imperial Household Agency, via a press release, noted that the “…prince had been rushed to University of Tokyo Hospital in a critical condition earlier Sunday, but died of acute heart failure…”

Upon hearing the news of the death of Prince Katsura members of the Imperial family gathered together at the late prince’s home in Tokyo to mourn his death.
