(VIDEOS) His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain Attends the 2022 Rey de España Journalism Awards.

On Thursday, June 2, 2022, His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain attended the 2022 Rey de España Journalism Awards held at the Casa de America in Madrid. 

Established in 1983, by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (Aecid) and the EFE Agency, the Rey de España Journalism Awards honors the work of Spanish and Portuguese – language journalists from the Ibero-American Community of Nations and the countries with which Spain maintains historical ties and cultural and cooperation relations.

HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco Visits an Outdoor Photo Exhibition in Monaco-Ville.

On Wednesday, June 1, 2022, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco viewed the photo exhibition entitled, Painter and Photographer Prince Albert I: Louis Tinayre at Spitzberg, 1906-1907, held at the Saint Martin Gardens in Monaco-Ville.

According to the Palais Princier, Prince Albert I of Monaco met Mr. Louis Tinayre at the Paris Universal Exposition in 1900. Appreciating Mr. Tinayre’s work, Prince Albert I asked the artist to illustrate the 3rd Edition of his travel story entitled, The Career of a Navigator.

From 1904, Mr. Tinayre participated in all of Prince Albert I’s oceanographic campaigns, for which he is responsible, at sea as well as on land.

The Painter and Photographer Prince Albert I: Louis Tinayre at Spitzberg, 1906-1907, is organized by the Prince Albert I Committee in collaboration with the Palais Princier de Monaco Archives and the Audio-Visual Institute. Later in the summer, the exhibition will be on display at the Antoine I Quay Room along with the exhibition, Mission Polaire.

(VIDEOS) Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain Visits the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

On Wednesday, June 1, 2022, Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain accompanied by the Secretary of State for International Cooperation, Ms. Pilar Cancela, began the first full day of their cooperation trip to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

According to the Spanish royal court, the day began with a meeting at the Spanish Technical Cooperation Office, where Her Majesty unveiled a plaque commemorating her visit, “…a few words of welcome from the Spanish ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania gave way to an open dialogue and a tour of the facilities with which the meeting ended.” 

Next, Her Majesty visited the logistics platform of the National Society for the Distribution of Frozen Fish (SNDP) where she toured the facility.

Thereafter, Her Majesty Queen Letizia visited the Comprehensive Care Project for Victims of Gender Violence:

“Her Majesty The Queen was accompanied on her way through the Special Police Station against Gender Violence by the Minister of Social Action, Children and Family, Mrs. Safia N´Tahah. Her Majesty viewed a project that includes police, medical, psychological and judicial attention. Her Majesty also toured the facilities of the Police Station. Later in the afternoon, Her Majesty visited the University of Nouakchott.”

HRH Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg Visits a Community Garden in Belvaux.

On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg accompanied by the Minister of Labour, Mr. Georges Engel, and the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development, Mrs. Joëlle Welfring, visited a community garden in Belvaux.

During today’s visit, Grand Duke Henri met with the locals who take care of the garden and other projects.

(VIDEO) His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain Receives a Medal from the Foreign Policy Association New York City.

On the evening of Thursday, May 26, 2022, His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain attended the Foreign Policy Association’s Annual Gala Dinner held at the Harvard Club in New York City. Established in 2018, the purpose of the FPA is to “…serve as a catalyst for developing awareness, understanding, and informed opinion about US foreign policy and global issues.”

During the gala, His Majesty received the Foreign Policy Association (FPA) Medal. The award is presented to individuals who demonstrate responsible internationalism and work to expand public knowledge of international affairs.

Upon receiving the FPA Medal, His Majesty gave a speech:

“It pains me, but I cannot begin my remarks tonight without a word of profound sorrow, disgust, and condemnation in the wake of the violent attacks and killings that have that have taken place in the past days and weeks [referring to the attacks in Buffalo, NY and in Laguna Woods, CA] today out thoughts and hearts and with the 21 victims of the Texas school tragedy. So, I would like to express on behalf of the Spanish people my deepest condolences to their families, friends, to the U.S. authorities at this difficult time.

Upholding freedom, democracy, and respect for human rights and dignity involve a relentless commitment. It seems like an everlasting job, regardless of the transformations the World endures. We cannot take them for granted. Unfortunately, many events are a permanent reminder of that and, therefore, demand our current utmost and generous effort.”

(VIDEO) Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain Attends the 81st Edition of the Feria del Libro de Madrid.

On Friday, May 27, 2022, Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain officially opened the 81st edition of the Feria del Libro de Madrid (Madrid Book Fair) held at the Parque del Retiro. The theme of this year’s fair, Hojea el Mundo.

During today’s event, Her Majesty met with various publishers and booksellers including the owners of the Reno Bookstore, the Galaxia Gutenberg Publishing House, and the Miraguano Bookstore.

Her Majesty also toured the printing workshop in the Children’s Pavilion and visited the Europe Pavilion which is “…participating in the Madrid Book Fair for the first time…” according to a press release.

The Madrid Book Fair is open to the public until June 12, 2022.

(VIDEO) Members of the Jordanian Royal Family Celebrate 76 Years of Independence.

On Wednesday, May 25, 2022, His Majesty King Abdullah II and Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan attended an official ceremony marking Jordan’s 76th Independence Day held at Al Husseiniya Palace in Amman.

The ceremony was also attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Her Royal Highness Princess Iman bint Abdullah II, His Royal Highness Prince Hasham bin Abdullah II, Her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al-Hussein as well as a number of Royal family members, senior officials and officers, and members of the diplomatic corps.

According to the Hashemite Royal Court during yesterday’s celebrations, His Majesty King Abdullah II bestowed “…royal medals on a number of distinguished Jordanian institutions and individuals, in appreciation of their services for the country and its people.”
