Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands Opens a Building in Doorn.

beatrixOn Tuesday, November 5, 2013, Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands opened a new building of the Stichting de Basis in Doorn.

According to the official website for Stichting de Basis the independent care center provides:

“…services after trauma for veterans and military service [men and women] and their families. Increasingly we service former uniformed personnel at risk of aggression, violence or disaster. To be more specific, we support (former) personnel from the army, fire-brigade, ambulance, police force, and public transport.

We assist them and their families in coping with the consequences of trauma. We focus on resilience, empowerment and creating new perspectives, and we support clients to extend their focus of control.”

News Regarding HM Queen Maxima of the Netherlands. (VIDEOS)

MaximaOn November 5, 2013, Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands arrived at the Appel Arts Center in Amsterdam to attend the 2013 Prix de Rome.

According to the official website for the Prix de Rome the award is the:

“…oldest and most prestigious prize in the Netherlands for young artists under the age of 40. 

The award dates back to 1808 when Louis Napoleon introduced the Prix de Rome in the Netherlands to promote the arts. Although the award has regularly been renewed, the aim is still to trace talented artists and encourage them to develop and increase their visibility.”

The winner of the 2013 Prix de Rome went to Ms. Falke Pisano.

His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands Swears in the New Governor of Curaçao.

WAOn Monday, November 4, 2013, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands swore in Ms. Lucille Andrea George-Wout as the new governor of Curaçao at Paleis Nooreinde in Den Haag.

According to the newspaper, Curaçao Chronicle, Ms. George-Wout is:

“…the first female governor of the island and was the first female president of the Parliament of the Netherlands Antilles. She is characterized as the ‘Iron Woman’ of Curaçao for her strong character and no-nonsense attitude.”

Remembering His Royal Highness Prince Johan Friso of the Netherlands. (VIDEO)

FrisoOn Saturday, November 2, 2013, a private service of remembrance was held at the Oude Kerk in Delft for His Royal Highness the late Prince Johan Friso of the Netherlands.

The late prince passed away on August 12, 2013, due to complications related to the hypoxic brain injury which he suffered as the result of his skiing accident in Lech, Austria on February 17, 2012. Prince Johan Friso left behind his wife, Her Royal Highness Princess Mabel of Oranje-Nassau, and their two daughters, Countess Emma Luana and Countess Joanna Zaria.

Family and close friends of the late prince attended this afternoon’s service including The Most Reverend Archbishop Emeritus of Cape Town and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Desmond Tutu, and his wife, Nomalizo Leah Shenxane, former United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, and his wife, Nane Lagergren, Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, legendary singer and activist, Bono, and his wife, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, and Her Highness Princess Martha Louise and her husband, Mr. Ari Behn, to name a few.

HRH Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands in Tilburg.

BeatrixOn October 30, 2013, Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands arrived in Tilburg to attend the conclusion of the European project, Requiem for Auschwitz.

According to PPE, purpose of Requiem for Auschwitz is to bring:

“…attention of the victims of the Holocaust, including 500,000 Roma and Sinti, and the contemporary situation of the Roma and Sinti community in Europe.”

HM King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands Opens Brains Unlimited.(VIDEO)

WAKingOn Tuesday, October 29, 2013, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands arrived at the Maastricht Health Campus to open the new Brains Unlimited Institute and Scannexus Lab.

According to the official website for Brains Unlimited and scanning lab:

“…is the place where researchers, clinicians, and entrepreneurs, under one roof, bring research from concept to commercialization.  

Providing an integrated platform for the imaging community, Brains Unlimited helps scientists and companies to find the key to many common disorders, as well as gain more insight into the development of human behavior. Brains Unlimited has three MRI scanners with ultra high magnetic fields, including one of only four 9.4 Tesla scanners worldwide.”
