Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands Opens a New Shelter in Amsterdam. (VIDEO)

Queen Beatrix 2012On Friday, October 3, 2014, Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands officially opened the Leger des Heils (Salvation Army’s) Majoor Bosshardtburgh homeless shelter located in the De Wallen district in Amsterdam.

The new shelter provides private rooms for 36 residents according to RVD.

Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands Attends an Award Ceremony in Den Haag.

BeatrixOn October 2, 2014, Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands arrived at the Spaansche Hof in Den Haag to attend the 2014 Max van der Stoel Award Ceremony.

According to the offiicial website for the awards the:

“…presented every two years to a person, group or institution for extraordinary and outstanding achievements in improving the position of national minorities in the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) participating States.

Established in 2001 by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, the Award honours Max van der Stoel, a prominent Dutch statesman who was the first OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities. The Award highlights issues related to national minorities and supports the High Commissioner´s conflict-prevention work.

The winner of the 2014 Max van der Stoel Award went to Spravedlivost, a non-governmental organization based in Jalal-Abad in southern Kyrgyzstan, has been named as the 2014 winner of the Max van der Stoel Award, for its outstanding work in improving the position of national minorities in the OSCE area.”

His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands Attends the 2014 Heinekenprijzen.

TheKingWAOn October 2, 2014, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands attended the 2014 Heinekenprijzen (Heineken Prizes for Arts and Sciences) held at the Beurs van Berlage building in Amsterdam.

According to the official website for the Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen the Heinekenprijzen:

“…are international prizes awarded every other year to five internationally renowned scientists and one highly talented Dutch visual artist for their great merits to science, Dutch art and society.

The scientific Heineken Prizes recognize and reward unique achievement in the fields of biochemistry and biophysics, medicine, environmental sciences, history and cognitive science. The sixth Heineken Prize, the Heineken Prize for Art, is awarded every two years to an artist living and working in the Netherlands.”

Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands Meets with the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon.

MaximaOn Tuesday, September 23, 2014, Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA), presented the “…annual report on financial inclusion…” to the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.

Her Majesty also met with the Vice Premier of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Zhang Gaoli, again, at the United Nations headquarters.

Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands Attend the Opening of the 2014 Prinsjesdag. (VIDEOS)





On Tuesday, September 16, 2014, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands along with Their Royal Highnesses Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands attended the opening of the 2014 Prinsjesdag at the Ridderzaal in Den Haag.

During today’s opening of the new parliamentary year of the Staten-Generaal (Dutch Senate and House of Representatives) His Majesty delivered a speech highlighting the budget and policies of the Dutch government for the coming year.

Thereafter, Their Majesties and Their Royal Highnesses returned to Paleis Noordeinde in Den Haag to wave to the Dutch people.
