While their royal friends are having a blast in London watching the world’s greatest athletes do their thing at the 2012 Summer Olympics His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain and His Royal Highness Prince Felipe of Asturias were stuck in a stuffy room with a bunch of boring people. What did they do? Well, the royal duo attended a plenary meeting of the Consejo de Defensa Nacional at Zarzuela Palace.
Yawn.
Also in attendance alongside His Majesty and the prince was the Prime Minster of Spain, Mr. Mariano Rajoy Brey, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. José Manuel García-Margallo Marfil, the Minister of Defense, Mr. Pedro Morenes Eulate, and a bunch of other government officials.
On Monday, July 30, 2012, His Royal Highness Prince Henrik of Denmark was in Weymouth, England to watch Mr. Jonas Hogh-Christensen of Team Denmark compete in the Men’s Finn event during the 2012 London Olympics.
The prince consort also enjoyed watching other sailing competitions such as Men’s Laser, Men’s 49er and the Women’s Laser Radial. If that made any sense to you. 🙂
Later in the afternoon, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark was at Wembley Stadium where he watched the Men’s Singles in Badminton. The crown prince cheered on Mr. Peter Gade of Team Denmark who went on to win against Pedro Martins of Team Portugal. In an interview with the Danish magazine, Politiken, Crown Prince Frederik also noted that he also attended other competitions that day including Judo, Fencing, and of course the exciting event known as Table Tennis.
On Monday, July 30, 2012, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco attended various beach volleyball competitions at the 2012 London Olympics.
Anyway, the sovereign prince is such a fan of the awesome sport that he even built his own court just so he could get a good workout and probably pretend that he’s the famed U.S. beach volleyball player, Karch Kiraly, for thirty minutes. “I’m such a fan [of the game]… it’s just fantastic…” the sovereign prince exclaimed to reporters.
Moving on, last night Prince Albert II attended an Olympic dinner aboard the MS Deutschland along with other members of the International Olympic Committee and VIPs.
On Tuesday, July 30, 2012, Their Royal Highnesses Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg along with children attended a Tennis match, Men’s Singles 2nd Round, at Wimbledon. The grand-ducal family watched as Gilles Muller lost to Denis Istomin of Team Uzbekistan.

In the afternoon, Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall, Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, His Royal Highness Prince Harry of Wales, and Their Royal Highnesses Princess Beatrice and Prince Eugenie were at Greenwich Park to watch and support Ms. Zara Phillips. Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal watched “… from the grounds of the 5.7 kilometer course…”
Ms. Phillips was participating in the “…second phase of the three-day team eventing competition…” (cross-country). She came in 10th place with a score of 46.10. Click hereand hereto view photos.
And, finally, Their Royal Highnesses the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry of Walesattended the Men’s Team Final in Gymnastics. Team China won the gold medal with a final score of 275.997. Japan won the silver medal with a final score of 271.952 and Team GB won the bronze medal with a final score of 271.711.
On the evening of July 30, 2012, Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge attended the Royal Academy of Arts “… creative industries reception hosted by the British government supported by the Founders Forum…” in London.
According to the Press Association tonight’s event celebrates:
… UK culture, creativity, art and entertainment. The event is part of the Government’s GREAT campaign which aims to use the platform of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to showcase Britain’s capabilities and promote and enhance the country’s reputation aboard.
On Tuesday, July 30, 2012, His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales was in Caithness, Scotland for a one-day visit. The future king began his day with a visit to Castletown where he opened the Backies two newly restored cottages funded by The Prince’s Regeneration Trust “… as part of the North Highlands Initiative” notes the BBC News. The cottages were recently renamed “… as the Caithness Flagstone Cottages.”
Afterward, the prince visited the offices of the North Highland Initiative and Wick Harbour. According to the Press Association, the Prince of Wales met with “…. representatives of the Harbour Authority…. The prince also met with [the] lifeboat crew who helped search for four airmen whose Tornado jets crashed earlier this month.”
