On Friday, October 12, 2012, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco participated in the 13th Board of Directors meeting of the Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco held at the Ritz Hotel in London.

Today’s meeting allowed “… the Board members to examine the state of progress of projects supported by the Fondation Prince Albert II, to approve the 2013 estimated budget and consider new projects implementation will be financed by the Fondation Prince Albert II.”

Yesterday, the sovereign prince hosted a fundraising dinner for “… one hundred international supporters of the Fondation Prince Albert II…” held at the Claridges Ballroom in London.

This afternoon, Prince Albert II presided over the 5th annual Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco Award Ceremony held at the Science Museum in London.  The recipient of the Climate Change Award went to Dr. James Hansen.  The Biodiversity Award went to Sir David Attenborough and  the Water Award went to the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI).

After the ceremony attendees watched an advanced screening of the new Disneynature film entitled, Chimpanzee.

 

Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands Presents the 2012 Vrije Schilderkunst.

On October 12, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands presented the 2012 Vrije Schilderkunst (2012 Royal Awards for Painting) to four young artists held at the Paleis Amsterdam.  Each of the artists also received 6,500 Euros.

According to RVD, the prize was “… established in 1871 by William III as Royal Grant, which was intended as an incentive for young talent in the field of painting.”

On Friday, October 12, 2012, Their Majesties King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain along with Their Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Asturias celebrated National Day 2012 in Madrid.

“The main event during National Day was an act of homage to the national flag, which was held in Madrid’s Plaza de Canovas del Castillo, along with a military parade, which ran from the Plaza del Emperador Carlos V and Colón.”

Afterward, there was  reception held at the royal palace.

On October 11, 2012, His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex opened the new Abraham Darby Academy in Telford.

Her Royal Highness Princess Maxima of the Netherlands Receives Members of the Reading Club, Meetingz!

On Thursday, October 11, 2012, Her Royal Highness Princess Maxima of the Netherlands received members of the children’s reading club, Meetingz!, held at Villa Eikenhorst in Wassenaar.

During the meeting and reception the princess received a book from the members of the club entitled, Trots zijn op wie je bent (Being Proud of Who You Are).  According to RVD, the book is “…is based on their story about bullying and looking different.”
