On Thursday, May 12, 2022, Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain visited the municipality of Pinofranqueado, on the occasion of the centenary of King Alfonso XIII’s visit to the Las Hurdes region, in the province of Cáceres, Spain.
Upon their arrival, Their Majesties were warmly welcomed by hundreds of residents from Pinofranqueado and nearby towns. There were cheers with applause and shouts of Long live the King and Long Live the Queen.
After meeting with the residents, Their Majesties visited the town square where they enjoyed watching a folk dance of El Paleo a traditional dance from the area performed by young people.
Thereafter, Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia participated in a meeting with the municipal corporation and the mayors from the surrounding area.
