Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark Presents a New Literature Prize in Copenhagen.

On Saturday, June 11, 2022, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark presided over the Prins Henrik Prisen award ceremony held inside the banquet hall of the Danish Writers’ Association in Copenhagen.

The Prins Henrik Prisen (Prince Henrik Prize) is a new literature prize that aims to recognize Danish poets. The prize includes a bronze statuette of the Prince’s sculpture, Fabeldyr. In addition, the recipient of the prize will recieve 300,000 Danish Kroner, the “…largest Danish literature prize in terms of amount…” according to the Danish royal court.

Throughout his life, the late His Royal Highness Prince Henrik of Denmark was active in various forms of artistic expression such as poetry and sculpting:

“From 1982 to 2014, Prince Henrik published a number of collections of poems, and several of the Prince’s sculptures are set up around Denmark. Among other things in the castle gardens at Marselisborg Slot and Fredensborg Slot.

By virtue of the Prince’s personal and lifelong interest in art, including in particular the art of poetry, Her Majesty has given permission for the poetry prize to be named after the Prince.”

The recipient of the Prins Henrik Prisen went to Mr. Klaus Høeck.

HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark Attends the Launch of the UNFPA State of World Population report 2022.

On the afternoon of May 24, 2022, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark attended the launch of the UNFPA State of World Population report 2022 held inside the Maersk Tower at the University of Copenhagen. The crown princess is Patron of the UNFPA.

According to the Danish royal court, this year’s State of World Population Report focused on:

“…the fact that almost half of all pregnancies are unplanned, which has serious consequences for society, women and girls, for global health and for the possibility of achieving world goals.

Subsequently, the Crown Princess attended a panel discussion in which the participants discussed solutions to the fact that globally there are more than 250 million women who want to avoid pregnancy but are not protected by effective contraception.

The Crown Princess has been a patron of UNFPA for 12 years. Over the years, Her Royal Highness has had a special focus on the organization’s key focus areas, which is to work for a world where every pregnancy is desired, where every birth is safe, and where all young people are given the opportunity to reach their full potential.

HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of CoC Playful Minds in Billund.

On the morning of Monday, May 16, 2022, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark attended the Capital of Children (CoC) Playful Minds 10th anniversary celebrations in Billund.

According to a press release, the CoC Playful Minds organization works to:

“…fulfill a vision that Billund, Denmark should be the Children’s Capital. The vision of making Billund into the Capital of Children was developed in a unique public/private partnership between Billund Municipality and the LEGO Foundation.

The work consists, among other things, of creating projects, supporting initiatives, inviting collaboration, and creating a common direction for activities and initiatives in this connection.”
