On Monday, June 20, 2022, His Royal Highness Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg accompanied by the Minister of Economy, Mr. Franz Foyet, began their four-day economic mission to Canada.
Yesterday, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Mr. Foyet attended the opening of the Luxembourg-Ontario Business Forum. The seminars:
“…highlighted the opportunities specific to each market, with a potential for new cooperation and innovation. The organization of working groups allowed for productive exchanges on current topics such as cybersecurity, health technologies, or fintech.”
Thereafter, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Mr. Fayot attended a luncheon with the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Ms. Elizabeth Dowdeswell. Discussions, over salad and fish, focused on the political, economic, and social situations. A particular focus was put on the international situation and the management of the crisis in Ukraine, given that Canada is home to one of the largest Ukrainian diasporas in the world.
In the afternoon, the hereditary grand duke and Mr. Foyet attended the Digital Media Zone (DMZ) event organized by Startup Luxembourg and the Canadian incubator, DMZ.
The day ended with a cocktail mingling party aka networking reception with members of the Luxembourg economic delegation and hundreds of representatives from various Ontario, Canada-based companies.
