On Monday, June 13, 2022, His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain presided over the Oath of Allegiance to the Spanish Constitution and Loyalty to the King ceremony of new lawyers held at the Teatro Real in Madrid, Spain. 

The taking of the Oath and Loyalty to the King formalizes the roughly 300 new young lawyers’ commitment to the legal profession and to the King. 

During today’s ceremony, His Majesty King Felipe VI received the ICAM Medal of Honor for his 25th anniversary as an Honorary Member of the Madrid Bar Association (ICAM) from the Dean of the Madrid Bar Association, Mr. Jose Maria Alonso.

In 1993, His Majesty King Felipe VI received his law degree from the Madrid Autonomous University.  Thereafter, His Majesty received his Master’s Degree in International Relations from the Edmund Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, in Washington DC.
