On Thursday, June 9, 2022, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark received the Danish Shipping Companies Maritime Prize, in connection with the industry organization’s anniversary, held at the Dock in Copenhagen.
According to the Danish royal court, the Maritime Prize was awarded to Her Majesty for her:
“…many journeys with Denmark in all parts of the Kingdom, the reports of the Kingdom seen from the seaside. As a godmother to many of our Danish ships as well as the many visits abroad, how Danish shipping has filled, has merged in as a strong and fully integrated part of the story of Denmark as a large and proud maritime nation.”
Along with the Maritime Prize Her Majesty was presented with 50,000 Danish Kroner, in which Her Majesty will donate to the Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik Fund.
After receiving the award, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II gave a short speech thanking the Danish Shipping Companies for the prize. Thereafter, Her Majesty participated in a one-on-one conversation with Danish writer and historian, Mr. Tom Buk-Swienty, about the role of maritime in the Queen’s life.
