(VIDEO) Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain Presides Over a Special Ceremony in Cartagena.

On the morning of Tuesday, June 7, 2022, Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain presided over the act of the delivery of the Spanish national flag to the Special Naval War Force held at the Juan Sebastian Elcano dock in Cartagena, Spain. 

The Special Naval Warfare Force (FGNE) is the current Special Forces unit of the Spanish Navy.  The FGNE was formed on June 10, 2009, on the basis of the Special Unit of Combat Divers (UEBC) and the Special Operations Unit (UOE) of the Marine Infantry Brigade (BRIMAR) of the Third Army (TEAR).

Upon arriving at the Juan Sebastian Elcano dock, Her Majesty was greeted by the Spanish Defense Minister, Ms. Margarita Robles Fernández, the president of the Region of Murcia, Mr. Fernando López Miras, the Chief of Staff of the Spanish Navy, Mr. Antonio Martorell Lacave and the Commander of the Special Naval Warfare Force, Mr. Domingo Manuel García Nieto.

After receiving Ordinance Honors, Her Majesty Queen Letizia reviewed the troops and then took her place in the Royal Tribune. After the reading of the Ministerial Order, Her Majesty presented the Spanish flag to the Commander of the Special Naval Warfare Force.
