On Monday, June 6, 2022, Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of Belgium attended an award ceremony for the laureates of the 2022 Queen Elisabeth Cello Competition held at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo.

According to the Belgian royal court, over the past several weeks sixty-six cellists from around the world participated in the prestigious competition.
