On June 1, 2022, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands opened the photography exhibition entitled, FLASH|BACK, at the Mauritshuis in Den Haag.
Per a press release regarding the exhibition:
“What happens when new masters pick up where old masters left off? Find out in our photography exhibition FLASH | BACK. Sixteen leading photographers – including Erwin Olaf, Rineke Dijkstra and Anton Corbijn – have created new works inspired by the 17th-century paintings in our collection.
The result is 16 photographs, one for each room in the Mauritshuis. The new works will be displayed alongside the 17th-century works that inspired them. Once you have seen these modern masterpieces, you will never look at Rembrandt, Vermeer or Steen in the same way.”
FLASH|BACK will be open to the public at the Maurithuis in Den Haag until October 16, 2022. For more information about the exhibition please click here.
