HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark Attends the WOMEN’S Health/Tech Mother’s Day Event in Copenhagen.

On Thursday, May 5, 2022, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark attended the WOMEN’s Health/Tech Mother’s Day event hosted by the Maternity Foundation in Copenhagen. The Crown Princess is the Patron of the Maternity Foundation.

According to the official website for the Maternity Foundation, today’s event brought together:

“…global organizations and foundations, tech and pharmaceutical industries, researchers, and scientists. [Discussions focused on] how innovation and digital solutions can help ensure women’s access to a safe birth in low- and middle-income countries.

During today’s event, Crown Princess Mary gave a speech about the:

“…importance of using Mother’s Day to mark that all women – no matter where they live – have the right to a safe pregnancy and birth. The Crown Princess pointed out in her speech that, for the first time in decades, an increase in maternal mortality is being seen, and that this is partly due to the fact that global health has been challenged by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Currently, about one million midwives globally are missing to give women and newborns access to a safe birth. The Crown Princess ended her speech by expressing a hope that today’s event will help pave the way for new and innovative solutions that can promote women’s health.

Maternity Foundation is a Danish NGO that works to train midwives in low- and middle-income countries.
