On Wednesday, May 4, 2022, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark officially boarded the royal yacht Dannebrog in Nordre Toldbod in Copenhagen.
According to the Danish royal court, the official boarding of the royal yacht Dannebrog is:
“…the beginning of a very special summer sailing season. For this year it is 90 years since the first command was raised on the Royal Ship, which has now for nine decades served as the official and private residence of Christian X, Frederik IX, and The Queen.
[As Her Majesty said goodbye to the well-wishers and the Port Authority] the sound of cannons from the Battery Sixtus sailed in Kongechalup to the Royal Ship, which traditionally sailed towards Elsinore, where it will be received by the city’s citizens, and a cannon salute of 27 shots from the cannons at Kronborg Castle.
The royal ship Dannebrog has trained approximately 3,300 conscripts and sailed more than 800,000 nautical miles, and the ship has over time visited most of the ports in Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands as well as ports in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and the east coast of the United States.
This year, the anniversary sailing season will lead His Majesty on two summer cruises to the municipalities of Elsinore, Anholt and Aarhus as well as Slagelse, Lolland and Frederiksberg. The Queen also visits Tønder Municipality to participate in the postponed events from the celebration of the Reunification 1920.”
