HRH Princess Isabella of Denmark Has Been Confirmed at Fredensborg Slotskirke.

On the afternoon of Saturday, April 30, 2022, Her Royal Highness Princess Isabella of Denmark was confirmed into the Folkekirken (Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Denmark) at Fredensborg Slotskirke in Fredensborg. The ceremony was presided over by the Royal Chaplain-in-Ordinary, Bishop Henrik Wigh-Poulsen.

Dozens of guests attended today’s confirmation including several of Princess Isabella’s godparents including Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of Belgium and Mr. Peter Heering. Also in attendance were Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, His Royal Highness Prince Christian of Denmark, His Royal Highness Prince Vincent of Denmark, Her Royal Highness Princess Josephine of Denmark, Their Royal Highnesses Prince Joachim and Princess Marie of Denmark, His Royal Highness Prince Nikolai of Denmark, His Royal Highness Prince Felix of Denmark, His Royal Highness Prince Henrik of Denmark, Her Royal Highness Princess Athena of Denmark to name a few. Unfortunately, Princess Isabella’s Grandfather, Professor John Donaldson as well as Crown Princess Mary’s family in Tasmania and Australia, could not attend today’s confirmation celebrations.

According to the Danish royal court, the flower arrangements inside the Slotskirke included:

“… Hortensia, Peony, Lathyrus and Butterfly as well as the Orchid variety Phalaenopsis. The Hydrangea variety ‘Princess of Passion’ has [also] been used, which Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess in her capacity as patron of the Odense Flower Festival christened in 2019.

Throughout the past 100 years, Fredensborg Slotskirke has been used for a large number of religious ceremonies for members of the royal family. In particular, the church has been the setting for royal confirmations, but it was also in this church that Princess Isabella was christened on July 1, 2007.”
