On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands visited the port of Rotterdam in the province of South Holland. The port of Rotterdam is the largest seaport in Europe and the second largest port in the world (the first is the port of Singapore).
Today’s tour of the port of Rotterdam focused on, “…the production of green hydrogen, hydrogen based on residual gases, infrastructure for transporting hydrogen via pipelines and import and application in industry and transport…” in a statement from RVD. During his visit, His Majesty was informed about the hydrogen ambitions of the port of Rotterdam.
During a cruise along the Maasvlakte, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander met with the CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, Mr. Allard Castelein, the Program Manager for Electrification and Hydrogen, Mr. Randolf Weterings, and the Director of the Climate Program at Deltalinqs, Ms. Alice Krekt.
Thereafter, His Majesty visited the refinery, Neste Niederlande, where he met with the Vice President of Global Production, Mr. Bart Leender. During their meeting, Mr. Leender informed His Majesty how “…Neste is working on sustainability and the role hydrogen plays…”
