On Friday, March 18, 2022, Her Majesty Queen Maxima of the Netherlands visited the Vuurvlinder School and the Diamond College in Den Haag where newly arrived Ukrainian students are being taught.
According to RVD, the day began with a visit to the Vuurvlinder School which is an “…international multicultural school for children of 42 different nationalities (ex-pats, refugees, asylum seekers, and status holders) between the ages of four and twelve.”
Thereafter, Her Majesty Queen Maxima visited the Diamant College which is a:
“…secondary school with several language classes for refugees. These classes are intended for pupils from the age of twelve who have only been in the Netherlands for a short time and who do not have a sufficient command of the Dutch language. The students take many classes to be able to participate in regular education as quickly as possible.”
During her visit, Her Majesty attended a lesson on the theme, Dreams about the Future. Her Majesty also spent time with the students who shared about their “…experiences in the school and the importance of these classes.”
