(VIDEO) His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark Visits the Elmgade Workshop in Vejen.

On Tuesday, March 15, 2022, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark visited the Elmgade Workshop in Vejen, Denmark to meet with individuals who are in the process of making the ribbons and medals for the upcoming 2022 Royal Run. Whew! That was an unnecessarily long sentence.

Anyway, what makes this visit incredibly special is that the medal is produced in the spirit of sustainability. Each medal is made of recycled acrylic sheets, while the medal ribbon is produced from PET material, which is typically used for plastic bottles. According to the Danish royal court, the 2022 medal “…leaves an almost 48% smaller Co2 footprint compared to the medal produced for the 2020 Royal Run…”

The 2022 Royal Run will take place on June 6 in the cities of Aalborg, Aarhus, Kolding, Næstved, Copenhagen/Frederiksberg and Bornholm.

According to the official website for Royal Run this family-friendly, an otherwise fun event is an:

“…opportunity for Danes, foreigners living in Denmark or visiting Denmark to take part in this unique event. The main focus is to hopefully encourage people to be physically active on this day and in general.

The event is organized so that everyone can participate. Athletes or ambitious runners can compete and chase personal records. The rest of us can join the festive event in our own pace – and it is possible for whole families, elderly, and those with a handicap to participate and enjoy the festive celebration in the streets.”
