TRHs Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden Visit the Victoriaslussen

On Tuesday, March 8, 2022, Their Royal Highnesses Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden accompanied by their two children, HRH Princess Estelle and HRH Prince Oscar of Sweden, visited the Victoriaslussen (Victoria Lock) construction site in Stockholm.

Per the Swedish Royal Court:

“In 1642, the first lock between Södermalm and the Old Town, Queen Kristina’s lock, was opened. Since then, the lock has been rebuilt several times due to changed conditions.

The new Victoria Lock, which bears the Crown Princess’ name, will, among other things, secure access to drinking water and manage increased flood risks and high water flows.”

During the visit, the Crown Princess family was given a tour of the new lock facility by City Planning Councilor, Mr. Joakim Larsson and Project Manager, Mr. Peter Svärd. The first part of the Victoria Lock is expected to be put into operation in late spring 2022. In 2024, work on the new regulation of Lake Mälaren is expected to be completed.
