Just a reminder to all that this year’s Nobel Prize 2010 will be happening this Friday, December 10, 2010. This is a major event so don’t miss it!
The Swedish Royal family attending this year (women in to-die-for tiaras and fabulous gowns):
HM King Carl Gustaf XVI, HM Queen Silvia, HRH Crown Princess Victoria, HRH Prince Daniel, and HRH Prince Carl Phillip. Unfortunately, HRH Princess Madeleine will not attend nor will HRH Princess Lillian who is quite elderly and unfortunately has Alzheimer’s. It is unknown if other members of the Bernadotte family will attend as well.

According to the official website, the Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony begins at 1:00pm CET and the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony begins at 4:30pm CET.

2010 Peace Prize Laureate
The 2010 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Liu Xiaobo “for his long and non-violent struggle for fundamental human rights in China.”
2010 Physics Laureates
Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov were awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physics “for groundbreaking experiments regarding the two-dimensional material grapheme.”
2010 Chemistry Laureates
Richard F. Heck, Ei-ichi Negishi and Akira Suzuki were awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Chemistry “for palladium-catalyzed cross couplings in organic synthesis.”
2010 Medicine Laureate
Robert G. Edwards was awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine “for the development of in vitro fertilization”.
2010 Literature Laureate
The 2010 Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to Mario Vargas Llosa “for his cartography of structures of power and his trenchant images of the individual’s resistance, revolt, and defeat.“
2010 Laureates in Economic Sciences
The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel 2010 was awarded to Peter A. Diamond, Dale T. Mortensen and Christopher A. Pissarides “for their analysis of markets with search frictions.”
