TRHs Prince Joachim and Princess Marie of Denmark Attend a Fashion Show in Copenhagen

While HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is still on maternity leave her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, TRHs Prince Joachim and Princess Marie of Denmark, attended a fashion show in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Typically, it is the Crown Princess who attends the CIFF fashion shows in Denmark to support the myriad of Danish designers, but this time it was Prince Joachim and Princess Marie.

The couple were spotted on Thursday night at the Bruuns Bazaar fashion show.  Princess Marie looked lovely in a black lace top, black sleek pants, curly hair, and bright red lipstick.  While Prince Joachim looked, well, like he always does… but with a tan (usually he’s extremely pale looking.)

The royal couple attended the event with their friends, Oscar and Britt Siesbye; other attendees included Laura Christensen, Beate Bille, and X Factor judge, Thomas Blach Mann.

HRH Princess Marie of Denmark Visits the Badia Fiesolana Monastery

On February 2, 2011, HRH Princess Marie of Denmark visited the Badia Fiesolana Monastery near Florence, Italy.

The French-born Danish Princess was treated to a private guided tour of the monastery which was built from 1025 through 1028.  Near the monastery “…lays a former convent which is now the location of the European University Institute.” The university offers post-graduate and post-doctoral degrees in such subjects as History and Civilization, Law, Political Science, and Economics.

All in all, it looks as if Princess Marie enjoyed her two-day visit to lovely Florence, Italy.  I am not sure what she actually accomplished nor what the main purpose of her visit was, but nevertheless, she looked amazing while have guided tours of some of the most famous sites in the world.

HM Queen Margrethe and HRH Prince Henrik of Denmark: News Updates

Well, it’s been quite sometime since I posted anything about HM Queen Margrethe and her husband, HRH Prince Henrik of Denmark.  With that being said, the couple recently attended various events including a birthday party and a winter ball.

According to the Danish magazine, Billed Bladet, the couple attended a birthday party on January 15, 2011 for their dear friend, Birthe Bruun Rasmussen.  According to the reporter, Ulrik Ulriksen:

HM Queen Margrethe  and the Prince Consort attended the birthday party with their closest friends the night before the royal birth of  the Danish twins at Rigshospitalet.

Apparently, the Queen knew late Friday when she made her way to her friend, Birthe Bruun Rasmussen’s 70th birthday bash at the Warehouse 11 in Copenhagen, that Crown Princess Mary was close to giving birth. Maybe that’s why Her Majesty seemed a little tense upon arriving at the party. She knew that the birth could happen at any moment while she and her husband enjoyed the birthday party.

Once she had come inside and was received by the birthday girl and her husband, Jesper Bruun Rasmussen, the Queen seemed more relaxed. In the end, she, along with Prince Henrik, enjoyed the birthday party which had lots of great food, vintage wines.  Speeches were made and music filled the air.  The famous opera singer Gert Henning Jensen sang and later in the evening Peter Kragerup orchestra played for the guests.

Meanwhile, on January 29, 2011, HM Queen Margrethe and HRH Prince Henrik attended a winter ball hosted by their dear friend, Fritz Schur.  The ball took place at the Christian Holm Castle, located in Klampenborg, Denmark.

According to Billed Bladet:

The scene was from the guests’ arrival set for a grand evening with culinary masterpieces and vintage wines. The energetic host took personally greeted all of the guests including Her Majesty the Queen and the Prince Consort, who arrived last.

Fritz Schur, who recently was appointed chamberlain, bowed deeply to Queen Margrethe then he escorted the Queen up the grand stairs into the elegant entrance hall where flowers of all colors filled the room.

Both the Queen and Prince Consort looked forward to a long night with many of their close friends who were on the guest list. One of the Schur-festival highlights was the musical performances by some of the country’s best classical musicians ensured.

The beautiful Viennese music was the perfect accompaniment to a gala evening that the royal couple and most other guests he ended only after midnight.

Countess Alexandra of Frederiksborg: Remember Her?

Countess Alexandra of Frederiksborg was out and about today for UNICEF.  The countess participated in a ceremony in which the city of Randers was named UNICEF City 2011.

Together with Mayor Henning Jensen Nyhuus and UNICEF Denmark genralsekretær, Steen M. Andersen, and UNICEF patron Countess Alexandra the event took place at the Old Town Hall.

During the year students, citizens, and businesses worked together with the municipality (city) organized many activities and events designed to raise money for a children’s project in Karamoja, located in northeastern Uganda.

The project will help to have more children attend school.  Only 20 percent of children living in Karamoja receive schooling, said Alexandra, who also revealed that the project will focus on children’s health and sports.

Countess Alexandra has been a patron for UNICEF since… forever, and it’s nice to see that she is still heavily involved with this great organization.

HM Queen Margrethe of Denmark: 39 Years on the Danish Throne

On January 14, 1972, Margrethe of Denmark became Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark after the death of her father, King Frederik IX of Denmark.

Prior to her accession to the throne a then  Princess Margrethe studied Archeology whilst at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom.  From there she studied Political Science at the Sorbonne, London School of Economics, and Aarhus University in Denmark.  She is also a gifted artist and linguist.

In 1967, she met and eventually married Henri de Laborde de Monpezat.  The couple had two children:  Crown Prince Frederik and Prince Joachim.  Today, HM Queen Margrethe is a proud Grandmother of seven.

Her Majesty Queen Margrethe is quite popular in Denmark and they, from what I understand, are immensely proud of Queen Daisy (her nickname.)

So, congrats Your Majesty!!

HRH Crown Princess Mary’s Sister, Jane Stephens, Out and About

Well, it’s been a couple of days since HRH Crown Princess Mary’s sister, Jane Stephens, flew into Copenhagen to be by her sister’s side.  Earlier today, a Billed Bladet reporter caught-up with Mrs. Stephen’s walking the Crown Princely couple’s dog, Ziggy, around Amalienborg Palace.  When asked about the newborn Danish royal twins she replied, “[We] look forward to the twins coming home.”

Aren’t we all.

It is unknown at this time when HRH Crown Princess Mary will leave the hospital. Rumors circling many royal discussion boards claim that the Princess will be released tomorrow.  That would be nice, but I’ll wait until Lene Balleby opens her mouth again… I mean… releases a confirmation statement to the world.

HRH Crown Princess Mary’s Friends Visit Her and the Twins

To say there were a steady stream of visitors to see HRH Crown Princess Mary and the newborn Danish royal twins is an understatement.

First to arrive was Crown Princess Mary’s longtime stylist, Anja Alajdi, sporting a new short-cropped gray hairdo looking like K.D. Lang on a bad day.  A very bad day.  Upon leaving the hospital, Ms. Alajdi spoke with the press whereupon she noted:

Mary is up already. She is doing well, she is doing really well and very well.  Twins look like Prince Christian. They are very sweet and quite small.  They are really adorable. They also have lots of hair and have great coloring.

Soon walked in Helle Reedtz-Thott and her father… excuse me… I mean husband, Baron Otto Reedtz-Thott.  Looking oh-so-chic in dark skinny jeans, black turtleneck, and a dead animal wrapped around her emaciated body, Baroness Hell was more than happy to chat with the press. “She is doing fantastic!”  Click the link to hear more of what she has to say:  Baroness Hell

Not too long after, the elegant Caroline Heering glided through the hospital, with her husband Peter, to visit her former employer and best friend.  The stunning Heering smiled as reporters shoved their giant microphones in her face.  But, like a professional she handled it with grace and ease.

Also visiting Crown Princess Mary and the twins, Tanja Doky and her husband along with Dr. Christian Buchwald who joyful announced, “They are great, everything is wonderful!”
