Meanwhile in Oslo, Her Majesty Queen Sonja of Norway was at the Munch Museet to attend the opening of the traveling exhibition, Edvard Munch: Det modern øye.  The exhibition focuses on:

“Munch’s later works and his relationship to his contemporary era. Munch’s personal experiences and the introverted workings of his mind have always attracted attention, but here the spotlight will be on his inquisitive participation in his social affairs and a modern visual culture.

An essential part of the exhibition deals with Munch’s experimental photographic art. His photos are presented as independent works of art together with the artist’s experiments with film from the late 1920′s. The next sections display an array of visual and narrative sides of Munch’s paintings, inspired by experimental theatre, silent movies and modern photojournalism.”

Edvard Munch: Det modern øye will be open to the public on October 31, 2012.
