“… students from the school’s 4th and 5th grades show what they have learned in order to prevent fires, including trying to extinguish a small fire with a fire fighter from the Tønder Fire Department.
Today’s event is held as part of the nationwide Learn about Fire campaign, where tens of thousands of students across the country learn to handle fire with care and consideration. Prior to teaching, schools have been sent free educational materials from the Emergency Management Agency, and many places to bring schools together with the municipal fire brigades to teach children in fire prevention.
Emergency Management Agency director, Henning Thiesen, welcomes the princess who has agreed to participate in Learn about Fire campaign in 2012, and thus raises awareness of how important it is that children learn to get good fire habits at an early age.
Princess Marie is affiliated Emergency Management Agency and has gone through a thorough training in firefighting in its introductory training in Emergency Management Agency in 2011.”
