On September 8, 2012, Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark visited the municipality of Favrskov to celebrate the towns of Hadsten and Hinnerup’s 150th anniversary.
The crown princely couple began their day at Frijsenborg Gods (meaning estate) to attend a luncheon held in their honor and hosted by Count Bendt Wedell and Mayor Nils Borring.
Soon, the crown prince and crown princess arrived in Hinnerup where they toured the town square and were entertained by the Hinnerup choir. They also visited an art workshop, the Hinnerup Library and Cultural Center and more.
By 2:45 pm Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary hopped on a train to the town of Hadsten. Upon their arrival the crown princely couple were warmly greeted by the locals as well as by government officials. After a myriad of handshakes and royal waves the crown princely couple visited the “…Modelbane Europe, one of the largest computer-controlled model railways…” toured the Ernst B. Sunds Square and much more.

I never understand why Mary always walks ahead of Fred. With other CP couples the heir not the spouse walks ahead of the other. Is there a different protocol in Denmark?
