On the evening of August 6, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark along with Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte and Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark attended a lovely reception aboard the royal yacht Dannebrog.
The reception, hosted by Her Majesty, was held for “… prominent British and Danish cultural figures as well as representatives from cultural institutions in the United Kingdom…” Guests at tonight’s event included Danish journalists Mr. Michael Bjerre and Kim Bildsøe Lassen, the director of the BBC News, Ms. Helen Boaden, The Times journalist, Ms. Deborah Haynes, CNBC presenter, Ms. Louise Bojesen, The Natural History Museum of London director, Dr. Michael Dixon, the director of the South London Gallery, Ms. Margot Heller, and the curator of the Viking exhibition at the British Museum, Mr. Gareth Williams to name a few. Members of the Danish royal court as well as several ambassadors also attended tonight’s event.
This afternoon, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II along with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark watched a handball match, on a giant screen at St. Katherine’s Dock, between Team Denmark and Team South Korea. Team Denmark won 26-24. Click here to watch a video (in Danish).
And, finally, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark arrived back in London this afternoon. The crown princess brought her two eldest children, Prince Christian and Princess Isabella, with her so they could enjoy the last week of the London Olympics.
