Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte of Denmark Visits Northampton, England (VIDEOS)

On August 1, 2012, Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte visited the city of Northampton in the East Midlands. The purpose of the visit is to strengthen “… trade links between Denmark and the town of Northampton.”

The day began with a visit to the Northampton Museum and Art Gallery where she was warmly greeted by local dignitaries including the Mayor of Northampton, Councillor Roger Conroy.  In honor of Princess Benedikte’s visit there was a lovely reception at the museum where the princess also viewed “… her great-great-grandmother’s, Queen Victoria, wedding shoes as well as the rest of the historic shoe collection…”

After the reception, Princess Benedikte visited The Guildhall to view “… two stone murals [that depict] the Danish invasion of Northampton in the 9th century and the arrival of HRH Princess Alexandra of Denmark on 1863 …”

Prior to a lunch at the Town Hall, the Princess and her delegation visited the Northampton Alive exhibition which displays all “… of Northampton’s key regeneration projects, including the expansion of the Carlsberg UK bottling plant…”
