Members of the Danish Royal Family Attend Various Olympic Competitions in London.

On Saturday, July 28, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II and His Royal Highness Prince Henrik of Denmark along with Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary and Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte attended various Olympic competitions in London.

The day began with the royal family attending swimming semi-finals competition held at the Aquatics Center.  Afterward, the crown princely couple had lunch at the Olympic Village where a journalist from the Swedish magazine, Expressen, caught up with the future king and queen of Denmark to ask them a few questions.  Here is what they had to say:

“There is a really good atmosphere among the athletes, and we have good expectations, ” says Crown Prince Frederik.  What did you think of the opening ceremony?  ”It was a phenomenal opening with good British humor.  Really good,” smiles Crown Princess Mary.  What did you think of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s cameo appearance during the opening?  ”It was well done… Really good…”

The Crown Prince of Denmark is hopeful for the Danish team and their chances of winning medals, “It will be fun to follow the Danes in action.  We will keep our fingers crossed for their sake. It is a good momentum and we have a good team this time.”

Later on in the afternoon,  Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II and His Royal Highness Prince Henrik along with Princess Benedikte of Denmark attended the women’s handball preliminary match between Denmark and Sweden. Denmark won 21-18.

After the game, the Danish network, TV2, asked Her Majesty about the exciting match whereupon she replied, “It was incredibly exciting to follow.  I understand a bit of the game of handball; nevertheless, the game was quite wonderful.”

Meanwhile, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended a tennis match at Wimbledon.
