On July 16, 2012, His Royal Highness Prince Daniel of attended the Gothia Cup tournament at Heden in Gothenburg. Per the official website for the Swedish royal family (rough translation):
The visit began with the prince arrived during the second half of the match between AIK and Cantalao from Peru in the elite class Gothia Tipselit Trophy for young men ages 17 years. This is a class for special invitees elite team to be organized in collaboration with the Swedish Football Association.
Subsequently, the prince an opportunity to meet players from the Bois Foundation and watched parts of the match between them and the French Olympique Lyonnais in Kim Källström Trophy.
The prince also received information about the Meet the World, an international qualifying tournament which is organized every year in more than 20 countries in cooperation with SKF.
To conclude the visit, Prince players who participated in an international exhibition match between two mixed teams. In the mixed teams participating players from different teams that qualified for the tournament through the Meet the World.
