On June 5, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II and His Royal Highness Prince Henrik of Denmark began their fabulous nine-day summer cruise aboard the royal yacht, Dannebrog.
The first stop for the regent couple was the town of Stubbekøbing in south Denmark. Upon their arrival, Her Majesty and Prince Henrik were greeted at the port by local dignitaries and of course many well-wishers.
Soon, the regent couple were off to the local Rådhus where they were officially welcomed to the town by the mayor, Mr. John Brædder. Whilst there they attended a reception held in their honor. From there Her Majesty and the Prince Consort went their separate ways.
Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II visited the Stubbekøbing Care Center and the Gunslevholm Idrætsefterskoles facility where she watched a gymnastics show performed by students. While the Prince Consort visited the Stubbekøbing Motorcycle Museum and Hardi International. Later the regent couple attended a luncheon at the Middelaldercentret (Medieval Center) hosted by the Mayor Brædder.
The day ended with a visit, by Her Majesty, to the Episcopal Cemetery alongside Bishop Steen Skovgaard while the Prince Consort toured the Center for Vocational Education Lolland Falster (CELF). Finally, there was as intimate reception, hosted By Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik, aboard the royal yacht Dannebrog for a select few.
