Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II and His Royal Highness Prince Henrik of Denmark along with Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, Their Royal Highnesses Prince Joachim and Princess Marie attended a lovely dinner in the Orangery at Fredensborg Slot. The purpose of the dinner was to celebrate WWF Denmark’s 40th anniversary.
The royal family, wearing interesting and colorful clothing, were all smiles as they posed for photos. Guests included members of the WWF Denmark as well as very important and fashionable people.

Mary usually has good taste in clothing. But that thing she is wearing is hideous!
Honestly, that dress looks like something a 80 year old retiree from south Florida would wear.
Sorry, but the dress is incredibly unflattering on the crown princess.
I have to agree. Mary is a thin woman. This dress/whatever it is, makes her look 6 sizes bigger. And perhaps she was trying for an Asian style but this almost looks psychedelic.
It kind of looks like Mary’s wearing a dress similar to an áo dài, a traditional Vietnamese dress. The print is a bit severe (but hers isn’t the first I’ve seen like it). Henrik’s wearing a traditional Chinese jacket, a tangzhuang. Maybe there was a theme? (That apparently only a few members of the royal family followed?)
Hi Tyson!
I believe you are right concerning the WWF 40th anniversary being a theme party.
Also, I am slightly familiar with the Ao dài, and perhaps Crown Princess Mary’s dress (minus the high collar) was inspired by the traditional Vietnamese gown.
Hi! The dress looks better with movement. When she’s standing still, it looks like an unconventional dress, but then in one of the photos she’s walking and we can see that she’s wearing pants, traditional with the áo dài. Looking past the pattern of the dress (and the fact that it should maybe be a little more tailored for her), I really like that Mary decided to wear it. Vietnam is an important part of Henrik’s history. Cheers to her.
Damn. That was supposed to be a reply to your reply.
That dress is Vietnamese tradition dress. The Queen wore the dress in the Royal collection. Boths have made in Vietnam in 2009. Its name os Ao Dai Viet Nam
Thank you for the information, Mariam!
