The Royal Correspondent

On Saturday, May 26, 2012, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II and His Royal Highness Prince Henrik of Denmark along with Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark celebrated the 80th anniversary of the royal yacht, Dannebrog.  The royal family participated in a luncheon held aboard the famous yacht which serves as a “…private and official residence of the Regent the couple as well as members of the royal family when they are on summer trip or on official visits abroad.”

And, finally, His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain recently met with Governor Rick Scott of Florida, elephant lover, at Zarzuela Palace in Madrid.  The old king was in good spirits until the bald-headed governor opened his big mouth.  

Recently, well-known author, model, illustrator, professional Christmas tree decorator, and now famous godmother, Miss Carina Axelsson presented the proceeds from her annual Advent calendar to the Bad Berleburg library in the form “… of books, CDs and educational games…” 

Of course whilst at the library there was a photo-op and interview with the American writer and not-yet-a-princess.  Here is what she had to say (crappy translation, sorry):

Every Christmas the Miss Axelsson’s famous Advent calendar has given not only the buyers much anticipation for the holiday season, but now the children and young people in Bad Berleburg new reading material. ”My idea has worked very well again with the sales of Advent calendar which helps the city library,” said a pleased Carina Axelsson. “Reading is something that has always been close to my heart.  Books open new worlds, I would like to help many children and adolescents” says the children’s book author.

1200 Euros were spent purchasing new books, educational games, CDS and audio books for the Bad Berleburg Library thanks to the sale of Miss Axelsson’s Advent calendar.

“Without the support of my Advent calendar the success of it would not have been possible and I would like to thank all those who have supported the sale of the calendar including the Wittgenstein Wochenpost, Wiebelhaus Jewelers, MankelMuth and Kühn bookstores, Café Anno Dazumal, Firma Krug Sport und Bekleidung, and of course, the Bad Berleburg Library.

Asked whether she was done with her annual Advent calendar Carina shakes her head and says,  ”No.”

It certainly has been a busy weekend for Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco and on Saturday, May 26, 2012, the princely couple met with staff and people from Association Monégasque des Handicapés Moteurs.  The prince and princess wanted to met with “…people with disabilities…” who were enjoying the F1 Grand Prix de Monaco.

On Sunday, May 27, 2012, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene, wearing the spring 2012 Grand Prix-Print crew neckline dress by Akris, along with Her Royal Highness the Countess of Wessex and Her Royal Highness Princess Caroline of Hanover’s sons, Pierre and Andrea Casiraghi watched the finals of the F1 Grand Prix de Monaco. Afterward, the sovereign prince presented a lovely trophy to the winner of the race, Mr. Mark Webber from Australia.
