Meanwhile in Copenhagen, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark launched the Maternity Worldwide campaign, Red en Mors Liv på Mors Dag (Save a Mother’s Life on Mothers Day).
According to the Danish royal court, Kongehuset, Crown Princess Mary:
… has been patron of the Danish Development Aid Organization since 2010 and for the past six years the organization has worked to rescue women and children’s lives in connection with pregnancy and childbirth in Ethiopia.
For the sixth year in a row the Maternity Worldwide campaign “Red en Mors liv på Mors Dag” many Danes have had the opportunity to support Maternity Worldwide group’s work. This year the focus is directed at the organization’s forthcoming 4-year project, “Wired Mothers in Ethiopia”.
The project takes advantage of the telecommunications revolution on the African continent to use completely new and innovative opportunities to reach the poorest women and the remotest districts via mobile phones. The project’s overall objective is in line with the Maternity Worldwide organization’s vision that it must not cost lives to give life. Neither for mothers or for newborns.
The year’s mother’s day gift is a mobile phone cover for iPhone 4/4 S, designed by Mr. Christian Stadil. All profits go to Maternity Worldwide organization’s projects.
