On Sunday, February 26, 2012, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark arrived in Washington, D.C. to participate in the 2nd World Conference of Women’s Shelters which began on February 27, 2012. The purpose of this four-day conference is to raise awareness about “…domestic violence globally.”
This morning Crown Princess Mary oversaw the “…pledging of a donation of more than $2.3M USD from the Danish government to The Inter-American Development Bank…”
Afterward, the Crown Princess visited a local women’s shelter in Washington, D.C. From there the future Queen of Denmark attended the opening of the 2nd World Conference of Women’s Shelters and participated in:
…the workshop of the Mary Foundation and other workshops at the conference alongside foundation Director Ms. Helle Østergaard and project coordinator Ms. Dorte Fredskilde Braad.
During today’s opening, Crown Princess Mary gave a speech regarding domestic violence. Tomorrow, she will participate in another important workshop organized by the Mary Fonden (Mary Foundation).
